Mr. Rain

Real storms, patiently captured and shaped into long-form soundscapes for sleep, focus and calm.

Who is Mr. Rain

Behind the recordings.

Mr. Rain is a professional sound effects producer who spends his working life building audio for screen, and his nights recording the one sound he has never been able to leave alone.

His career was built in the detail: designing, editing and mastering effects for film, television, advertising and games, where every sound has to sit perfectly inside a mix.

For the past four years he has returned to rooftops, forests and back roads whenever a front rolls in. This is a personal project — made because storms are where his love of sound began, and because the recordings helped other people sleep, study and slow down.

The process

Built from real weather.

01

Recorded, never synthesised

Every storm on the channel began as real weather, captured on location with broadcast microphones — no loops, no stock libraries, no generated noise.

02

Thunder with room to breathe

Distant rolls, close cracks, the long decay across a valley. Thunder is mixed to arrive naturally instead of jolting you awake.

03

Mastered for all-night listening

Levels, low end and hiss are treated so a track holds up for eight hours on speakers, headphones or a phone under a pillow.

What you'll hear

Four kinds of weather, hours at a time.

Collaborations

Licensing, custom recordings and quiet conversations.

Mr. Rain occasionally takes on commissioned weather recordings, sound design work and licensing for film, games and installations. Requests are read personally and answered when the storms allow.
